As I write this I am thinking of how we got here…
From the first Trumpet lesson, to learning the Trombone, to Marching and Symphonic Band music has always been a go to!
As an undergraduate student at North Carolina State University I joined Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed service fraternity that made a huge impact on my life. Shout out to the Iota Lambda chapter still rocking strong…LFS Baby!
I hosted parties with roommates, made flyers and I always created the party soundtrack. Add a few cheap lights from Spencer’s Gifts and it was always a good time!
One day the phone rang and Tony asked if I would consider being the DJ for the next APO Semi Formal. I was already testing some DJ equipment and I said if he can’t get anyone else I would do it. So this turned into my first ever paid performance as DJ Phatboy, and the beginning of Phatboy Entertainment! Then I had a regular Thursday night DJ spot at Colorado’s on Hillsborough Street.
I switched my major to study Hospitality and started a great career in Raleigh managing at 42nd Street Oyster Bar. Went on to open a restaurant, work for Marriott as Banquet Manager and Catering Sales Manager, move to Winston Salem and become a Catering Manager for Aramark. Then I took a chance and moved to Delaware becoming the Catering Director at West Chester University and Regional Catering Trainer. I married the woman of my dreams in 2014! SO naturally it was time to get more serious about what once was a hobby.
My past has served as the backbone for Sightline events and the spark to my passion, professionalism and desire to always go above and beyond for the client. I didn’t see it at the time but I was slowly building a base of knowledge as I learned from my mentors.
I don’t take it lightly. Having hosted Indoor and Outdoor Wedding Celebrations, Pep Rally’s, School Dances, Birthday Parties, Corporate Holiday Parties one of my all time favorite events was my Aunt’s Surprise Birthday Party in Charlotte, NC.
It took some time to get to where we are today, but it has been a fun and challenging trip. Rebranding a company with a new name, logo, website and the lot, but all in all it has been a great transition!
I learned a lot about what was really important.
What did we not do well the first time with our brand?
What do our clients think of our services?
What do other vendors think of our services?
What will our new focus and direction be?
This is just the beginning and I am very proud to announce some of our upgrades!
